Wrapped in jade, pale white skin, Sash tied loose, she is barely held in Painted more pale, hides red eyes, Cloistered love, she can barely not cry. New silver combs, holds night hair, Cascades down, when no longer is there, The bath steams, make-up shed, Steam hides tear, the robe lays on the bed. Hot water soothes, the pained heart, Soaking the aches, hide the tears if they start, Air is cool, candles glow, In her dreams, is a touch she doesn’t know. Stand in shivers, to bed strode, Still wet walks, and lays on the jade robe, Will death chill, as comes tears, Will love not fill, as she survives the years. When dawn come, retires jade, No more worn, as if never made. Wearing black, silver combs, Never her heart will attempt to roam. Gloom Inspired by a poem from Li Bai about a girl whose marriage offer is refused and must enter into servitude. A common event for poor girls of the T’ang Dynasty. |

I know that feeling... being refused and of the Jade Robe...I think I have one of those, too...if it hasn't dry rotted by now. sad tale done well ( and yes I actually understood and "got it" without the explanation...for a change) ~smiling~ M |
