Please speak to me
a naked language
in sacred tongue.
Let me find reprieve
upon your breath
through parted lips;
a prayer of touch
soul to skin
to exist as more
than lustful whim.
And when my heart
bleeds beyond your need,
I'll gently wait
in whispered sin.
Endure the want
and pretend
that you still
sing for me
even if only
poetry of lesser degree.

I guess you get older and wiser is true, because I sure know one thing - I wait for no one anymore     Nicely worded and enjoyed this so much.  As a matter of fact I am sending your poem to a friend in Australia to read.

Such a beautiful poem Dawn, even in it's sadness.

I loved this one buddy, and had to say this...

Because ya ma buddy
Unwavering friendship is yours
My task today is to
Place you on top of the list.

It's not the blindfold that blinds you,
it's the person that puts it there.

Dawn dear, one thing that I have learned is that wether or not your poetry is happy, sad, reflective or mad....
it is always written with perfection,
and from your heart.
Lesser degree?  NAH NEVER!!

I read this a few moments after you posted this, Dawn, and it applied your username to my thoughts, muting them, and I found it very hard to know how to respond, so I sat back, and watched as others came in with their responses.

I think DS said it best - you crossed a threshold.

Brava!

Not sure which I'd rather...to have written this or had it written for me.  Excellent write Dawn.  Dark and brief can be a perfect combination.

hugs back ma'am...

rarely do I read apiece that haunts me like this one has..I continue to open it and read..perhaps aline or two, before I have to avert my eyes and close it... only to come back..and try again to absorb

I thank you for this one...
