In utter silence
birds and butterflies
close the season,
open the sky;

the weeds that swayed,
stand at attention now
tall as straws,
drink the blues above them
contemplate next winter's thaw;

i walked for miles;

on moonshine
and intoxication,

through summer's fields,
unchartered,

and celebrate you now
on august's time;

quite soon, your call
to fruition comes,

and sad to say,
i can only call you
a pretty flower, dressed
in bridal lace of ivory,

we never knew eachother's names.

this reminded of the seasons,
how they quickly pass us by . . .

Inkedgoddess....you write such lovely words about nature and this one took me back to an August in 1969 and the rolling hills of Ohio.  Lovely poem, as always, *hugs*....jo

Well done,  love the vision you paint.  Good
ending,  though sure would have been nice
if you knew...  But this way gives it more
power in the ending.
