Before the roses fade,
before their crimson blush
grays away to dust,
before their heavy scent
drifts into memory,

once

let me feel
loved.

Midnitesun, Cpat, and muted, thank you so much for letting me know you read it.  I appreciate it more than you can know.

Nan, this is achingly wonderful.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Pilgram
There is a haunting in these words, the ghosts of things past seem to appear, as summer wanes....This poem is filled with that feeling ..of something lost, but hope to regain, still remains ..

Come read to me some poem,
Some simple and heartfelt lay,
That shall soothe this restless feeling
And banish the thoughts of day.

Ah, Ice took my sentiments
and laid them down beautifully,
as did you this poem.

Well done, Nan

Thanks guys, that's so nice of you.  This is one of those poems that just came to me.  I put a half-polish on it and wrote it down.

Oh, I know this song well... used to sing all 143 verses through off key sobs. *S*

How beautifully you write this longing! *S*
