In figure 8's
blackbirds fly
over laundry lines;

fisherman's face
etched with life
full of sun,

tattered pole topples
another fish story
swimming by;

red white and blues,
hang overhead
in brickface rows,

checkered dog dances
the length of his shadow,

too many cars
honking with hysteria,

little girls say 'moo'

old colored lights hang
from evergreens,
lining sidewalks, caught
between christmases,

fumes and songbirds
breathe with sky,

little boys
stepping on ants,
laughing with glee,

somebody teach them please.............

roadside flowers
pretty colors
stuck between cracks,
succumb to the season,
wilt on their deathbed,

we all must die;

life becomes
a traffic jam

massive and
poignant

pointless and
maddening

thursday afternoon

TICK TOCK
TICK TOCK

where are we all going?

leaving brooklyn

fuggedaboudit...................................

"somebody teach them please............."
yes, and though this write has a sad sound to it, I think you spend more time looking at refreshing rainbows

I really appreciate the way you describe the world around you. It takes me to another place,  even the woods get mundane. Thank you for another perspective.

yep...as my boy Lenny Kravitz begs an answer, "Where are we runnin'?"

It's great to read you again, lady, you've got a style that bridges gaps.

Inky
Strong thought here....

An entire poem could be molded aroud this, used as a theme...

"little boys
stepping on ants,
laughing with glee,

somebody teach them please..."

If they are not chastised, they will think it ok that if you wear the right uniform it is ok to pick up a gun and shoot at people you don't even know...

Sorry to have turned this political, I just couldn't help it..these words openened a window in my mind....

Enjoyed the whole poem....

Some simple and heartfelt lay,
That shall soothe this restless feeling,

thanks guys and gals
ice: quite alright, glad that it evoked that...cause yes, stretching it a bit further , as with toy guns, why must we even put that in a boy's hand?

~ You always manage to elicit strong emotions in me with your vividly descriptive poetry and unique perspectives on the world around you. Your eyes are windows to places that I have seen, but I see them anew through yours.

Michele, I have missed seeing through your words.
You can describe so vividly what your mind's eye sees.
