Between the Lines

Traveled quietly, readjusting my thoughts
to an incomplete day, wishing it not to end.
Surrendering only to the whys that I cannot answer,
longing for the strength that the sun has
to rise every morning despite the gloom set before.

Uncertainty has become a way of life,
not able to estimate or perceive from true value,
limiting chance taking to a minimum.

Somewhere there is promise, where feelings
are free to flow and cover me in comfort
allowing me to believe again.

I lack the power over my fears, dressing in black
to minimize my notice, wishing to dance closely
in the moonlight where all becomes equal
under the stars.

And dance you shall sweet lady...
you are much stronger than you may realize at times..
but then again...I KNOW you are strong.
And so do you.

very sad but sweet poem, nicely expressed...I could definitely appreciate and feel the words because they seemed to describe me. thank you for sharing.

I wear alot of black (two funerals in the past two weeks notwithstanding).

"...wishing to dance closely
in the moonlight where all becomes equal
under the stars."

Lovely words, Maureen.
