I hear the beat of horse hooves wither
Off in another direction
The winter scarecrow is freezing
With midday stretching before her
Youthful plants looking bored

But, I see him walking toward me at dusk
A fine face with no name
Dripping red canvas
Dreaming bout bashful fragrances
Beneath a long man’s hand

Hearing the footsteps of meaningful waves
Whispering in the lobe of mountains
You take off your hat and
Strobe a smile like sugar blossoms
On a sweet melting summer night

I see gradations of genuine trees
Rippling along in the center of a creek
Our footing soft in understanding
Offering our legion of spirits

Mistletoe fires gather in armloads
Linking a set of points I thought no longer existed
We stand in a warming blaze at the mouth of summer
With a deep personal expression of quilts

First light looked nothing like this before
Filled chestnut trees only two years old
Touching us, inside with stoking metaphor
Speaking words aloud in our mind

What passes between us are compass points significant
By a watercourse along side a lighted cabin, finding direction
Where all imagined loss befalls sleep
Owning courage in those wordless hours

All lay one with the natural condition of our world
The one gaining summit with enchanting views
Swelling of green bathing in the breeze
of companions, where little is perfect
but stains our chins with rich fruit

Lee,
I liked this a lot.  This seemed to be easier for me to read, however, I love your barrage of imagery too, I just am too slow to catch all the thoughts.  You offer so much...Your poetry is always packed with
wonder in any form--love it.
