Stranger Beneath the Skin

Grief is debilitating

All-absorbing,
It disengages the ability
To find a semblance
Of normalcy

Humiliation and mortification
Accompany shame and regret
As words spew
Through sorrowing lips
Every ear retreats in consternation
The speaker’s most rapidly of all

Schisms develop
Distancing needed support
And wardrobes offer only
Discomfiture for garment

Prematurely senescent minds
Are capacious vacuums
Unable to concentrate
On anything but self

Listless veins seeping spirit
Become conduits for anger
Indifference and lethargy
Paralyze to prevent
Contrition from being offered

Having lost everything
It’s easy to lose still more

Easy to lose more every single day - truer words were never spoken.  I hope you can send these to some place that will benefit from their wisdom?

Suthern beloved one, this is truly one of your most perceptive and insightful writes darling one. I know there are those who beg you to write other less painful words, but frankly YOU excel when you write like this.

Exquisite flow, and the words are so truthful and revealing that I’m blown away. Of course there are those who will warble on about how the pain will ebb away, and that time heals, we know it does. That’s not what the series is about, I’m simply stunned by your ability, you can really, really write, and with lines produced as wonderfully well written as these you show it in no uncertain terms.

Did I say that I utterly, utterly love this? Because I do
Love and warm stuff
as always

What do I choose, these lines?

    All-absorbing,
    It disengages the ability
    To find a semblance
    Of normalcy

or this agonizing truth?

    Every ear retreats in consternation
The speaker’s most rapidly of all

If I do, will I short-change these?

    Prematurely senescent minds
    Are capacious vacuums
    Unable to concentrate
    On anything but self

And what about the others? Every one is worth quoting and requoting.....though these shadows will haunt for a long time:

    Having lost everything
It’s easy to lose still more

No one does this better... no one.

I loved every word, but this series is so sad... I'd much rather you shared haikus of joy than odes of agony....I'd like to see you filled -- and fulfilled -- with happiness. If I could, I'd wave a magic wand over you and make that happen right now.

Perhaps I should read more of these.  They
are so right to the point....

I thought these lines were dead on....been
there, done that...so to speak...

Listless veins seeping spirit
Become conduits for anger
Indifference and lethargy
Paralyze to prevent
Contrition from being offered

Having lost everything
It’s easy to lose still more

Ratleader: You are so good to me, my friend... I don't think I could ever have completed this series without you and jellybeans assuring me it was worth the bleed. *S* I just hope you know the write helped... the friendships helped more. *S*

Magnus: I appreciate you reading any of them so much. *S* Thank you very much! *S*

PS: And what a wretched realization that is, right? *S* Thank you! *S*
