Hey 'yall!  Just a quick poke in here -- I'm starting work on my next CD which I'm planning to release early next year, so I'm not around as often as I'd like to be, but here, for your purusal, are the latest lyrics for one of my songs from that album:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CUT FROM THE BOTTOM

Copyright 2004 by:  Mark V Sheldon

Resources are endless for harming one another
Changing names and faces play games with lives of others
History is taught but never really learned
It’s always those who need it most that end up getting burned

Multi-million income hoarded by their greed
Squeezing out the livelihood from those with greatest need
Forty years commitment supporting the brass tacks
Loyalty rewarded with a freshly sharpened axe

Cut from the bottom
To keep them on the top
Their world’s on our shoulders
Until we choose to stop
Cut from the bottom
Step out and watch them drop
Pyramids cannot exist
When underground goes pop

Education’s rotting, regurgitating rote
Facts written by winners of feudalistic vote
The pillars of potential where knowledge can be shared
Are crumbling due to funding which somehow isn’t there

They can’t stand the thought of nature left to be
Attention is diverted by actors on TV
Sanctuaries opened, refuges profaned
In the name of oil everything is game

Cut from the bottom
To keep them on the top
Their world’s on our shoulders
Until we choose to stop
Cut from the bottom
Step out and watch them drop
Pyramids cannot exist
When underground goes pop

Limitations lifted, business run amok
Never held responsible for not giving a…
There’re always vested interests in passing certain laws
That leech our wallets empty and manicure their claws

Liberties are chiseled one right at a time
In the name of safety, security, and crime
But where’s the check and balance to hold accountable
The politicians at the top whose crimes are all uncountable?

Cut from the bottom
To keep them on the top
Their world’s on our shoulders
Until we choose to stop
Cut from the bottom
Step out and watch them drop
Pyramids cannot exist
When underground goes pop

Will "I've been missing you" suffice?
Always, your mind and voice are clear, and your heartbeat is heard.

Many wise points, though I must say, I find the song a bit depressing because of the truth within it.  Just as I find our political state depressing.  Ah, well, we cannot bury our heads in the sand, huh.  Good luck with your CD and its sales.

Susan

Would that the path was once again black and white and the valor of good men and women not abused for profit.  Would that the world could be moved to compassion and the evil and wicked converted.  Would that hearts could open in acceptance and differences be celebrated for the gift they are.  Would that love would engulf the world and lives be blessed with peace.

Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you.  Joy is a state of mind.

Mark,

This is a brilliant post.  I am in solidarity with you.  I think your sentiments are inline with my own reflected in many of my poems which are inspired by my blue-collared roots.  Still my days play amidst the roar of machines on a gray floor numbering triple digits in heat...and intensity.  It's a hard life.  The rich get richer and the poor get poorer, right?  Throw a little bone to the working man.  Yeah, I agree.  It's time for that.  It was time a long time ago.  I encourage you to stay grounded through your successes and remember the road that took you there.  You may reach many.  Your words matter much.  I will keep my eyes open for your CD.  My pop once told me as a child, "You can be broke and happy."  You know?  He's right.  I'm not quite broke.  I earn all I have.  But happy?  Yes, looking at my wife and sons, I've never been happier.  I will be watching for future posts from you.

In solidarity,

Kevin

Thank you Sunshine -- it's always a re-charge to be back, if even briefly...

Kacy, my dear:  absolutely!  It's been a while, and I am happy to see your name inter-weaving through this blue spine of art.  There's a lot on my mind, and it feels like a ripe time to express it.  I'm always honored to be included in your library -- a big hug and thank you.

Hi Maureen:  Well, since you ask...  it's actually getting a welcome resurgence:  it's been nominated as "Best Of Techno" this year for the annual JPF Music Awards   and seeing some downloads off of iTunes.  If you're curious or interested, look up "HAVOC RAZOR" (my a.k.a.) under:  www.cdbaby.com  Thanks for the visit.

Good morning, Sir Seymour.  Sorry for the wait, but thankyou for the patience and encouragement -- it's always an honor coming from you.

Hey Fagin:  Thank you kindly for the supportive words.  I'll e-mail you later today.

illana:  You are very kind.  I'd point you to my website, but I'm still designing it at the moment, so if you're curious about my cd, feel free to check out:  www.cdbaby.com and look up "HAVOC RAZOR" (my alias).  Thanks for the support!

Hi Susan, I know what you mean regarding a grim kind of feeling, but indeed, these things continue to be on my mind, so though I'm not fooling myself that lyrics will change the world, I do believe emphatically in the "ripple effect", and if they even touch one person in an inspiring way, then I have succeeded in my tiny way towards promoting thought and hopefully change for the better.  Thank you for the "good luck" -- ironically, much is based on it, and I second your "woulds"...

Dixie:  Your one-worders are always appreciated.

Kevin:  Thank you, and I hear you.  What would this great country be without the backbone of the working class?  Grounding is critical, and I find that the more I "learn" the more relative all becomes.  It's not about "money" or "success" as defined by the stereotypes -- it's about remaining a good person through it all and doing what you can to make our world a little better for those around us...  I appreciate your supportive thoughts and would like to believe that my words might positively inspire someone to instigate change for the better...  If you're interested in hearing some samples from my first CD, feel free to check out:  www.cdbaby.com and look up "HAVOC RAZOR" (my professional name).  Regarding happiness...  I think you've come across some real wisdom there.  Money can help but it can't replace the true happiness of caring human interaction.  Thanks for your positive words.
