One addicted to Coke, not Dad’s root beer;
stomach torn up from too much juice.

The other addicted to coke, white powder
spread into thin lines on a mirror,
then up the waiting nose it goes
with a rolled-up $100 dollar bill
that is only a portion of the total cost;
jails won’t reimburse you for your loss.

Both missing out on a natural golden sunset.
Both thinking they held a precious key to reality.
Both caught up in deadly self-deception.
Both, were once friends of mine.

Some friendships die young.

Very sad.  Very painful.  Would that they could know the truth to happiness and not the deceptive promises of the chemical kind.

Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you.  Joy is a state of mind.

And it hurts deeply when your friendship
cannot bring them back to reality...as you
watch them self destruct....and a friendship
goes up in powder...or a needle's prick
within a vein...

Thanx Kacy,  true,  sad, realistic...
requiring more courage than most of mankind
can muster..to win!!

From your post to Iliana, you felt "life" was the one word for you.  It is incredibly difficult to see one's friends not give value to their own.  Well written, Kacy.  You do find the guttiest things to say.  Ken

Thanks friends. This was a tough write, but one my muse insisted on putting out here, for all to feel.

Ken, I'm still learning to let go. Yes, it does hurt when you cannot put a 'good dent' in their heads. Life, yes. It is precious.

Good for you, Kacy.  I gave of the soda coke about six years ago.  I was buying drinking probably a minimum of three cokes a day....the stomach problems, I still pay for.  As to the white stuff, I never tried it, but I will tell you...it did bring an end to my first marriage.   .....jo

You know, it's not just self-destruction. This is the example of theat.
