In retrospect I do confess
I should not have spoke so soon
pebble words in tumble grin
and fairies
flailing awkward tune
as if a bit of paper wept
in the swirl of "thatta girl"
acids in a pool of whirl

I-hate-myself-for-this-you-know

Oh, I knew
it was a joke--
pinch me?
I was close this time.

this-time-next-time-last-time

*laugh*

Last time, I said,

"next time--

won't".

*  *  *

The petals of the daisy danced
as the genie tapped his wrist
on his magic hand of path
mocking clock's insistance with
the lure of anything I'd want
"two more wishes"
(too much taunt)
for me to ever feel at ease

last-time-that-time-this-time

"please."

"For a game of chess?" I begged
itching time and company
thinking-drinking-thinking-plead
chivalry in face of greed
as my curiosity
revealed to him my need:

"Two lone kings are you and I,
dancing on the black and whites--"
"You are not the Queen?" he smiled
(placing me in check) I filed
the 'tells' of all his posturing
for future reference
as I
made the mandatory queu...

that-time-this-time-next-time?

"you"...

which-time-my time

"it's your move"

wishing there were more

to us

than

tap-tap-dancing

checkboard blues.

just goes to prove, when it all comes down to brass tactics...life is 'not' a game, or shouldn't be...always someone gets hurt.

this was outstanding...the rhyme and rhythum...perfect...not to mention, the imagry of concept...very very good

sometimes if it werent for the game, we wouldnt find the pleasure we think we would be getting....umm..basically

tapdancing makes a spectacular show, and may even leave you with sore feet...but without the dance and music...ya just left standing..still..

and maybe a little bored

then again, i never did win a game of chess
maybe
i took the wrong approach

love this

To bent head with smoke
which curled round the wisps of hair
as if indeed the fire within
was about to burst

I spoke

Low toned in whisper almost
"to move the pieces cross this haze,"
and paused to draw my own lit one
and wait for you to look up
"Is to know there is an end
yet no end to what is possible."

You smiled
             puzzled sympathy perhaps
and spoke these words
"Linear is the game, but you know the end
comes from the choice of move."

and bent your head again

to move a bishop against my king
with one single word
"Check"

I smiled inside and simply let the board
in black and white remain
while I rose and turned my back on it
to face the window's rain

"If I should move my queen to defend the throne
then bishop takes her quick"
"Then knight takes bishop against his will"
and the queen of yours take mounted sir
and king takes queen to end
this gambit across the squares"

"But if the King move one space left
and you counter with your pawn"

"The game is yours my dear"

and we...
            could share coming dawn"

You again with quizzical smile
looked up at me and spoke

"Mate will do"

"Till we set the game"

Next time....

smile...Karen adds another thing to her list of things of "NOT to do with Cpat Hair".

Then she underscores a few items on her list of things "TO do with Cpat Hair."

*shaking my head and chuckling*
