Confessionals had lights on
At opposite ends of the church
Rendering absolutions in flawless thoughts
Regarding a fugitive wanted for questioning
About a crime that took place
The wind-swept brooding presence
Of rectangular windows
Short flickers of mores code
Meets our shy reserve
Silence wearing on us
Like architectural merits
Well hidden and unreachable
Positive we weren’t being followed

Where central facts of life
Winks at darkness
After a long taxi ride
Scratching the back of our heads
Shrugging off profiles & well rehearsed promenades
Understanding the other side
Of soul, we must be patient
In a sense of order
Resolving in our favor
Small dilemmas
That nobody knows
It is ours until the end of day
Then….
Thinking panoramic arms for balance
I detach my bullet proof vest
There was little to be said between us
That would open new promise
To chaotic, your chess game grew violent
Exhausting and irritable

You dropped off sudden movements
Returning and leaving as you did
But kept the salt and pepper shakers
I wonder shyly, do you look at them
And remember?

The whole story of friendship is….
All lives connect
There are those that have been given love
But they don’t know how to care for it
We didn’t know, at that time
Both of us…no ones to blame
Though I loved you, I did
Promising from the bell tower
That I’m a better person because of it
Because of the pain, because of you
Because I know, for a brief moment
We shared our intimate selves
The best we could

Your writes paint such a vivid picture of life. Reading you is like pausing at a door ajar, in a spell of voyeurism impossible to resist. Fantastic capture of the moment.

You really glow in this one.  That last stanza is a killer!  Beautiful.
