We are running
out of time;
driven by rabid media dogs
and self deluded pseudo-entertainers
busy counting ticket stubs,
who seem numb to the ticking,
ticking,
ticking,
the ticking of the phantom clock.
It gets louder all the time.
I wonder
if Augustus heard the same sound,
back when he still was around,
and realized
he had missed the portents
any seer could have seen.
Would he have changed,
and not turned his empire
gently
with intellectual passion
and all the errors of his greed,
onto the headlong bloody trail
through history's killing fields,
where Rome ground itself to dust,
doing what all human empires must,
which is
in time
die?

hiya Icebox, good morning....very much enjoyed this, wrote something similar and posted in Spiritual entitled Rapture

whewwww some heavy metal here...
Was just talking about this last night with a friend and history buff...very interesting conversation, actually an astounding realization, to discover all the wars and decay are repeated over and over again, just different generation...different empires.

By the way, you might be interested...he was talking about Hitler and I learned two very interesting facts...

#1 Did you know that Hitler loved art...very much and wanted to go to art school, but when he applied, 5 jews declined his application...

#2.  Also, his grandmother was impregnated by a jewish man...he didn't marry her and from that moment on, she (his grandmother) taught him to hate jews as much as she did...

Pretty awful stuff to ponder isn't it?

Go ahead and rant all you like.

A few see it coming while most do not care to look.

And the powerful have nothing to lose, or so they think.

It is the hiss of lightning just before it strikes.

Thanks for the write.

Ah! A good question. So many things in life to hear. Do we choose what to hear and what not to hear? Do we turn blind eyes and deaf ears in the direction of what is pleasant and ignore the unpleasant? As human-kind run the fast paced road they miss the warning signs for they are blind and do not hear the screams of the end for they are deaf.

I sound like I just brought in my soap-box from the other room. Time to get off.

Good one.
