My eyes still search
For her dress blowing against legs
When I return to shore

Too many these the days
I’ve traveled along currents
Almost as fickle as it seems my nights
Spent staring out to thicket rich shore
And wondered of the why it was
And of the how it might be

Cliché
              Time waits for no man

And I am reminded of passing grains of sand
Carried by the flow
Rivers never sleep
And even on the drowsy midsun run
She moves time and me

Miles below Carter’s bend
There is a place where she in some past rage of spring
Bent new channel to her will
Leaving behind the place we knew
And hid on one warm afternoon
From the eyes of all except our own
Leaving that dress hanging on a limb while we
Let eyes and hands roam
                                       Now,
Now it like the grain of sand and time
                     Is gone

“Call Mark!”
    Pilot pleads

Yet I can not count to twain
Nor see brown legs waiting for me
With soft cotton dress
Clinging  to hints of seductive nights

“Mark” I call
and wonder how far indeed I missed it

Ron

"Now it like the grain of sand and time
                     Is gone"

The river keeps on moving, true
but leaves something in its path
a memory and a poem in you

This is one of the best poems about the passing of time that I have read....well done, my friend!

(pssst hey I love the title but we better be careful or Dunc will fussing about tigerboyee poetry. lmao

I would love to live as a river flows, carried by the surprise of its own unfolding.
