Would that I could
Dry your tears
With gentleness
Of compassionate heart
And ease the ache
Of ages passed
When tender youth
Was tarnished
By harsh disregard
For its fragility

Would that I could
Atone for your pain
And remove the burden
That weighs upon your days
In past remembrance
Of wounds now scarred
Healed, yet still telling
Tears dried
But still falling
In cloak of invisibility

Would that I could
Offer you a hand
Pulling you from the desert
Of stark entity
Into this fertile land
Where love grows upon the fields
In wave of amber glory
And the sun settles to rest
Over happily ever afters
Souls safeguarded in friendship’s affection

Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you.  Joy is a state of mind.

"Would that I could..." ~ but you most assuredly could, if your friend were to read these loving and compassionate words!

Loving hugs to both you and your friend!

I think this is one to which we all can relate...to have the ability to take away the past and to make a better tomorrow...oh, would that I could!
Loved this

Susan,  there is not a shred of doubt in my
mind that you would if you were able to do
all that you have stated.  You have a kind
and beautiful soul.  May you always be blessed
with that and friends that appreciate who
you are to them...
