Poet’s Lament

I read the poet’s words upon the page
Written, I suppose, in heated rush
And though he never claimed to be a sage
His wisdom, to my face, it brought a blush
His words, you see, they took me back in time
To fairer worlds than this, to long ago
When muse was kinder, lent her voice to rhyme
And I was but the poetess you know
We used to dance on pages, he and I
And traveled through the clouds to distant lands
We plucked the very stars out of the skies
And buried our regrets in Egypt’s sands
We climbed mountains of pain in quest to heal
We drowned in tears too numerous to add
And in his strength, I learned again to feel
The joy in life, not only just the sad
And so his words, tonight they took me back
And caused this tattered heart to skip a beat
Now as the daylight skies give way to black
I pray once more, in dreams, to feel his heat

Sweet longing of the heart echos from these words.

You travel [and take me] to so many distant realms, yet keep me focused on so many churned up feelings and memories....

"We drowned in tears to numerous to add

Did you mean "too numerous"  ?    ~P

choshi...thanks so much for catching my typo, seems to happen when I write my poem here on the blue pages rather than in a works document first, you know, I don't seem to go through all the checks I should when writing on impulse

thank you everyone for your kind replies...it's nice to find my muse from time to time, I'd so like to be a more active part of Passions but time and circumstance don't allow for that right now.
I can't tell you how much your continued support for my writing means to me, thank you

Nothing wrong with a prayer like this, Ruth...
