This is an edited re-post,
dedicated to all who have been
an invisible shadow.

You dare to be yourself
and let everyone see.
I envy your brave posture,
so different from me.

I am just a shadow,
there really is no me.
Only in a reflecting pool,
sometimes a glimpse of thee.

Or so it seems this soggy day,
when all I want is to go out and play
in puddles and dance on warm wet leaves,
wipe the mud off of my sleeves.

A mosquito buzzed past me last night,
looking terribly important and busy,
somewhere to go, something to do.
Buzzed right past, without a bite.

She did not even see me.

Gosh, dear Kacy!
... sometimes such a feeling of invisibility can surge, I know, but your description is really incredibly original and stirring ...

Good you speak in the past tense ... in the title.

You are safely back on track!

Love, Margherita

The advantage of being invisible is that nothing more can befall us for a while.  Well written!  KJ

I know this...

A few years ago, my daughter gave me Midler's "Beaches" album, saying, "the main song is for you, Mom, from me."

Kacy...I'm going to trust you know what that song is.

Kids can really reflect us, at times when we least expect it...

and thank you, gal, for being visible to me.

this is a sensation felt by so many, even those whom one might think is laid all out there for everyone to see.  it is a sorrowful sensation, less of course you wish to be invisible at that moment, then, of course, it comes in quite handy.  your poems tend to make one take consideration, this is good.

Margherita, thanks, it's nice to have a reply from you.
Sy,
Ken, thanks for seeing and understanding my shadow.
Karilea, I do know, and what a wonderful gift she gave you, to say you are her hero!
Susan, thanking you for that reply, and for the time you take to 'feel' my posts.

Kacy

There have been times in my past when I've felt like this...but not any more, thankfully!  So well written...left me a bit shaken.

Oh my, YES...I know this feeling well...It seems to have been in another lifetime when youth had not learned the hard lessons of life...Magnificent...
