Seven months have fled since new years eve,
Witching hours into dawns;
Pencil-slashes through days, drawn diagonal
Leaves torn off calendars; count them..
Seven, dropped like something common
Into waste paper baskets.
*
Shaken awake by midnight thoughts:
Noting the seasons speed of passing,
I brail the page of August,
Peek at months that name the last quarter;
Touch pictures of autumn
Leaves (tinged) blood, and golden, think
How slowly the summer comes, how fast it's gone;
How swiftly returns (and lingers on) winter.

This is wonderfully descriptive I could feel it, smell it and almost taste it. I particularly liked the image of diagonal crossings marking off the days.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Yes, yes, the truth of the passing of summer most eloquently expressed -- enjoyed.

Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you.  Joy is a state of mind.

I'm sure, had you meant this
to be a hanky alert, you would
have said so...

so perhaps it's just and only me
that teared up with this

Karilea - if I whisper, will you listen?  Keeping in mind, I must stand close...
