Gotta be going
  Somewhere
A place unknown to
stagnant waters
Smothered in duckweed.

Gotta be moving
  Somewhere
Where the mind
Overflows
The sun energizes air.

Been there a time or two
Before the porter
Got my baggage
Pointed
which way to go.

Gotta be growing
This I know.
Gotta be going
To fill
those

Gotta,
Gotta
I’ve got the gotta goes...

(Hey, where’s the Kleenex for a dripping nose?)

I’ve got the gotta gotta
Gotta goes

Sounds like a song.  Are you working it out on the piano, too?  You okay? ....jo

#1  Nope, not good enough on the piano to write it down. I've done it, but it takes way too long, losing something in transition.  Sometimes the music comes on its own, sometimes not.

#2  Yep, I'm ok. Allergy season and most likely back to college.  Not looking forward to this year at all...

  Thanks for asking.

update on Saturday-yeah, I tried it on the piano.  It works.  I didn't know I could do blues, but maybe I can.

You made me smile, dear friend! This is a great blues and to hear you sing it would be the top ..... it surely will have a healing effect on the dripping nose!
Allergy is bad! Sorry that you are a victim!
Wishing you well!
Much love and hugs. Margherita

Yes, I know the rhythm and the beat to this.  I've been intimately acquainted with the "gotta goes".  Enjoyed.

Only one thing worse than the restlessness of "gotta" blues and that would be the paralyzing quality of the "shoulda" blues...

I liked this alot! Captured that quality of need that I find so hard to define.

James,
If I get there, I'll do better than that; I'll paint you picture of the place!  Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Susan,
I hope some of that was well worth the song.  Take care, Sweetie.  Thanks for your response.  I suppose at one time or another,
we all sing the gotta goes (my mother and father heard that song a lot on their drive to California with a carload of kids!)

Serenity,
Glad you could identify.  Actually, I think the Shoulda and the Gotta Goes are both movements of the Overture of Blues.  Do you know the Third Movement?  Thanks for your note.  I appreciate it.

MGroves,
It's good to have you back.  Either I've been in a hurry and missed your postings or you've been away for a little time.  Any way, its good to read your poetry again and to have you visit.  Take care.

Sunshine,
Yes, I suppose their is a little gypsy in me. And I am supposed to be the settled one in the family, always content!  Hm.  Still water runs deep.  Thanks for your comment.  It's always good to hear from you.

Hey you, good to read ya, I miss being able to.  I wish I could hear you play and sing this one (I always wished I could get the piano thang down... but it just doesn't work!). Love the poem, and I hope those allergies are getting a little better!

GG,
It's sooo good to hear from you again! I'm glad you liked this and rather imagine that your piano playing is as good as mine!  This is one advantage of poor auditory processing--I don't know how bad my playing and singing really is!!!  (My dog is the best indicator!  Howl!)  Take care, Alyssa.
