touch of heart
being something
given up
will be, could be
want or need?

indescribable feeling
knowing something, someone is out there
waiting to caress skin
trace lips with tongue
depth of feeling
in every gasped breath

closing eyes and seeing apparition
coming out of clouds of imagination
tasting with mouth of mind
languishing over flavor
believing with every life sustaining inhalation

this time it won’t hurt when it’s over
this time it won’t hurt
this time

"cast me gently into the morning, for the night has been unkind"
~Sarah McLachlan~

Maybe, it won't this time.  (At least I still want to believe there is love without pain....but, who knows?)   .....jo

Wow Susan, this is a fine poem in it's entirety.

Interestingly enough, we strive for perfection,
but perfecting the pain is to be commended.

Thanks, I needed this, and I truly enjoyed your thoughts on the subject.

Oy, this aches.  The pain of love disappointed and of anticipation unmet.  Well written.

Susan

Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you.  Joy is a state of mind.
