True Companion

what is a diamond but a rock
and pearls are gems of pain
and all turns to dust one day
if I only appeal to your vanity
that is a slow uphill climb
where a heart tumbles backwards
time starts hair to lighten
and gravity takes its hold
on stomachs past their prime
but wrinkled skin is sweet
and in its touch is real
where a true companion holds
a heart in tenderness of hands

"i need a hand to help build up some kind of hope inside of me"  TRAIN

Helen

A true companion sees past the skin of days and holds the heart with care.  How beautiful this is!
