Wake up little
  Lazy Bones,
Mr. Sun is smiling
  today!
Wouldn't you like
  to have some fun,
And go outside
  to play?

There are pancakes
  on the griddle,
Bacon's sizzling
  in the pan.
I've freshly squeezed
  some oranges,
And there's toast
  and homemade jam.

When breakfast time
  is over,
Brush your teeth
  and comb your hair.
Get dressed and tidy up
  your room,
Then head outdoors
  for air!

There are daisies
  in the meadow,
There are birdies
  in the trees.
There are crickets
  in the fields,
There are ants
  and bumblebees.

You can chalk pictures
  on the sidewalks,
You can run and swim
  and slide,
You can hop, skip
  and jump,
There's lots to do
  outside!

You could ride on
  your bicycle,
Or do some
  magic tricks,
Hide in the
  haystacks,
Or bounce on
  pogo sticks.

But first I'd like a
  morning hug,
And say that "I
  love you!",
Now rise and shine,
  my little one,
There's much to see
  and do!

this brings back to mind, the enormous maternal blessing of mother hood
sending them off with confidence in a new day, allowing them to fall down, and taking the hands of natures way....

glorious write, very much enjoyed....oh for the blessing of children huh?

Ah Linda, you capture the magic of summer for wee ones.  The eager anticipation of a day at play.  And a mother's joy in the joy of her young.  Very sweet.

Wow!!!  I'm printing this one and pasting it to my fridge.  I have 3 little ones (an 8yr, 6yr, & 5mo old).  My 8 and 6yr olds will love this one as I do.  This will brighten their day as they head out for the first day of school.

Well, your reply certainly put a smile on my face! It means so much to me that my poem has touched someone that way!

I'd be honoured to have my poem on your fridge for your kids! ~ and you sound like one busy mama! lol
