                  Why I Ache With You
                     But Do Not Fear

I see spirit,                    When I look at you
as you have                     I see it
  always known;                 of course;
when I look at you        I know your shape,
with other eyes                see your wounds
       it hovers                     reflected in the
    like a shimmering           shimmeringness,
heat on heat mirage,         surroundingness,
the dark and light           the light and dark
that flow within you.       that flow within you.
And now                         In this,
in your souldark time        the soulless dark
       you shine                      you have become
as if you held                 a crystal lamp,
a lamp within.                      so brightly burning.

For a friend who has many reasons not to smile,
but found one today in spite of everything.

Spectacular write, Sir Rat!  Applause! With this sweet gesture, I'm sure your friend now has another reason to smile.

Ed

Empathy is not always easy, especially when looking at dark stuff...I think you must have a beautiful spirit, to see the way you do.  This is such a lovely poem!
