I.
you turn
away from me,
heavy-lidded,
     letting your
          closed
               eyes
                    shut
out my questions, my
insistent
relentless
anxiety.
you dream yourself
                  a bubble,
silent
          adrift
in a calm, steady river
unrocked
by my white-capped thoughts.
eyes wide open,
I hate you for this:
for leaving me
to cast about in uncertainty
as if you had no stake
in the direction of the wind.

II.
you turn
towards me, shifting
      slightly in the dimness:
i trace
the contours of your face
with my eyes.
i slip
in next to you,
and you draw me into
your warm, steady breath:
a calm, if silent
raft
on this uncertain river.

You've got class, and an excellent eye for what makes a poem move -- great stuff here!

I'm with the leader of the Rats!

I'll certainly be looking for your offerings in the future and I am very glad I didn't miss this one.

Bravo (Brava?)
