Karman Ghia Coupe
(Mein Bestes Auto)

Forrest green, fast and lean.
Cutting through the wind,
so clean…

I’m sure she could fly if she had wings…

Not a Beetle, nor Super-Beetle,
and certainly not ‘The Thing.’

1970, Karman Ghia, Type-1…
My best car ever:
In any weather, she would run.
Rain, shine, or snow
And I never drove her slow…

We ran a stretch through Indiana,
Highway 36 to 63.
Then south to Terre Haute
And on to its university…
Not just the streets, but the sidewalks too.
She fit perfect
when the concrete was new…

She chased rabbits
and helped farmers fence their land
she was my best car ever.
My Karman Ghia

She was grand…

My first car of my own...  didn't even know how to drive a stick and had to learn in one afternoon...mine was a '71 and blue, don't think  it even cost 2000.00 (had the back seat that folded down)

Should have kept it instead of trading it in  when it began to need too many repairs.

I use to want to make up a bumper sticker so people would stay off my "rear" when I was at a stoplight on a hill...

"Have shift...will drift"

never did it though...never needed to worry about snow...always made it through the streets.

Oh how I wished I had kept it

Hey Nancy..so we have more in common than just our stomachs?

I remember a dark green Ghia, driving along PCH, under the stars.
*sigh*
what a memory you've brought back
