the distance is
a saffron wall paper
seagulls fly paired in groups:
nature drops hints of romance

on cue,
two shadows embrace
and these eyes turn away
in a rapid escape

giving way to
the privacy of the moment
yet, at the same time
stifling the swelling of sobs

grains of sand hold the glaze
of retreating footprints
while reflecting a haunting
capture of time
