On Lammas night

did Blue Moon weave

dreams awash,

the price of politicians' lust,

troubled by horizon's streams,

storms of others' greed

born down on us

twisting heritage into despair.

Who would care today

to see John Barleycorn go down

for all our sins,

when hatred motivates so many,

when reason's held to drown

beneath emotion's tides?

Last year's mead in visions

thus warns of lies

from other shores

as mindscapes lay awaste.

We may see once more

who runs to Winchester

on bloody tracks

lusting for a crown.

Thought inducing, yes, hmmmmm. . .

Exactly.

Those who've been the circle round a few times previous understand well that the first feast is a light feast of the finest.

Just enough to express the gratitude...and that's enough feast for anybody--to start.

Hugs to you dear.

(I'm shivering a bit too, wondering about the days ahead)

and thank you my friend, I was also wondering how you felt this feast day...

thanks for sharing it with me and all of us.

After reading your poem, I did a little research on Lammas so that I could understand.  I found it very interesting, as well as your poem.  Thank you.

Yes, the title, the write....exactly.  I'm reminded by CCR..."Bad Moon Risin'" for some strange reason.  Although I had a wonderful day, there is an underlying sense of forboding growing.  Couldn't have been a better anaology.  *hugs*....jo

You captured this well.
