I haven't thought of them for weeks;

of how they pay homage
to an ordinarily overlooked ground
as they fall by the basketfull
of plaid confetti that comes
with a season's changing sky;

and how they duet with the autumn winds
and spin circles round tired feet
that transform into tap shoes of sound;

and how they transition
the dawns of pastels
to the desolate nights
where only nakedness and cold
hang off the shoulders of wooden coatracks
rooted in the ground;

i haven't thought of them for weeks
until now;

as august turns with the full moon tonight
casting a bit of darkness, earlier,
though quiet in a murmer's voice
summers inevitable passing
can be heard as its days dwindle down.

No one duets with nature like you do Michele!

Loved every single line of this...

Yep, I can relate, (a little too much)
Hugs~

I absolutely love this, its feel and its breath -- just as I love the kiss of fall when it comes to embrace the summer.

A soft melancholy creeps through your beautiful words ... the passing of time is noticed when we slip out of the moment and stand in contemplation.
You do this extremely well.

Inky
Your poems take me on mind journeys,
even when I don't want to go,
I still read, and enjoy them.
But on the path that beckons seasons,
I hope that August moves real slow.

Enjoyed this journey muchly
