let's cross over
slithering
"come to me, yes, come to me"
temptation shush meanderings
trails of nails upon new skin
greed
the need
harsh hungering
grunting my impurity
in the clearing I confessed
beneath the eyes of sky.

I remember
bend of blade
beneath my feet
were angels pressed
from tangling
in dew construed
transgression of a supplicant
a demon of a silhouette
as mutters in the dark beget

contrition

acts of youth
I knelt
whispering his name
I strayed
"absolve me of the truth"
I prayed
burying my innocence
as no one wept the loss
I'm saved
Holy Chrism - venerate -
a Heretic in beg of taste
of something much more pure than me.

"Indulgence!"
cried the Bishop, shamed
by virtues of the flagellate
"sins of flesh be sacrament"

"Oil up the scourge," he spat,
I bared my sins,
convinced of fact
that Saints were thirsty for my blood
with sanctifying grace, assuaged
atonement of the Passion plays -
denial of my self.

I'm saved.

I agree with all the accolades, your talent is most evident and holds my great admiration.

I'll have whatever she's having   See ... this time I got it, felt it, and for the life of me can't figure how you gave this fabulous poem birth in such a short time.  You wrote this before doing dishes?  Sheesh!  Karen, write a book, for it robs you, and all of us a journey inside a very complex, compassionate, and intelligent mind.  Would it help should I say, "Pretty please?"

I bet you would promise anything to get an elemental to do the house chores!  *LAUGH*

THIS is extraordinary writing.  A bit of your best.

I bow to your talent and I think the forces of the universe owe you a dozen screaming, clawing, surging, biting, shuddering ...uh ...ummm  ...epiphanies ...yeah, that's it! *smile*

Thank you all for the generously yummy compliments.

If I were a better housekeeper I'd lick this screen.

and you'll have what I'm having huh?

I'm having an exorcism. Care to join me?

yes

sometimes I think...

we would all be better off

experiencing what we perceive

rather than

be TOLD that the butt of the sheep
ahead of us in line
is actually

the loveliest perfume

and that we should be thankful for it

I love when you pour your truth

I will always drink......

be true to you

Baby?

sigh

sometimes I give myself the creeps.

and you're right and you're wrong about one thing, I may be flipping my emotional finger, but I really do care what others think...

specially you.

I saw this the other day but waited until today to respond...

This piece is beyond words...a master piece.  And you know I loved it.
