in silence
we suffer want
gazes meeting briefly
to avoid resounding
shock waves of longing
in our souls

your touch
far too powerful
to bear
is ever within reach
& though hearts beseech
we honor one another
with denial

your gentle smile

breaks my heart
for these fingers
beg to trace manly
curve of lip where
my own would
kiss 'til emptiness
filled to overflow

but, no

instead, we pass by
acutely aware
careful not to stare
in case someone discerning
sees this love not
of you and me
the saying goes,
"all's fair..."
thus,
in silence we suffer

wanting us...

Hiya Tier!  The "All is fair..." concept has always resonated with reality by my hearing and I really like the "Tiersdin Twist" you put on it here.

"thus,
in silence we suffer

wanting us..."

Such a bittersweet write Tier...
but oh so well penned.
Much enjoyed.

I really like this part:

in silence
we suffer want
gazes meeting briefly
to avoid resounding
shock waves of longing
in our souls

Good poem, very easy to relate to.

How sad...have known this feeling, although, sadly, he didn't feel the same.

your touch
far too powerful

Yes, this I know as well, and believe it is fear that denys?  Fear of telling, for fear of rejection?

your gentle smile

breaks my heart
for these fingers
beg to trace manly
curve of lip where
my own would
kiss 'til emptiness
filled to overflow

astounding description of a love overpowering
and spiritual, enjoying the scent of his/her happiness.

but, no

instead, we pass by
acutely aware
careful not to stare
in case someone discerning
sees this love not
of you and me
the saying goes,
"all's fair..."
thus,
in silence we suffer

very very sad

wanting us...

the emotions in this were very powerfully projected...like you were both on a screen and I was watching.

Someday, if you allow, someone will come along who will be able to participate in this great love, and you will be redefined
it will be better and even more powerful
perhaps not as it was but more responsibly porportioned?

I hope so, in the meantime, thank you for such beauty!

You always make me think of soft painful whispers that you can just fall unto and love forever.
