Comfort level reached too fast When will I learn from the past Let down my guard and let you in Your romance I did not win Common interests, common friends Even shared smiles from around the bends What is it about me that led you away? I pray to God that someone teaches me today Faults, I know I have plenty However, does that mean my heart must stay empty Love of family and friends I have galore My wish is for a man I can adore I’ll try and remain a friend to you Maybe when your playing days are through My heart and soul will finally shine Two hearts will beautifully combine. Your heart will never be "Empty", Dear Dawn! It may feel less full at times, but yours is a heart that could never be empty. I believe that you should relax and be your true self in a relationship. We can only sustain a facade for so long ~ and one is never truly happy when we try to live up to the expectations of others! Yes, we may lose some people along the way, but I honestly do believe that they are the ones that we do not need in our lives. I personally would rather be by myself, than try to fit the ideals of someone else. I wish you love, peace & happiness ~ with yourself first! ~ and you are lovable, Dear One! I would love to thank each of you personally for your encouraging replies, but headaches are preventing that at this point. Just please know that your the well wishes and encouragement not only of my love life, but also my writing has brought a very warm feeling to my heart. I have realized with this poem how much I miss writing, so hopefully it is something I can work on in the near future. Dawn |
