spit balls were 60's
paintballs
with rubber band guns
and beaver cheaters
were socially required
sometimes
sometimes not
on friday nights
at the drive-in
down by the a&w

outta town was only a mile
to the edge of the timber
and the forest roads
where fords got stuck
or ran out of gas
facing down hill
were hotels by the hour
or night depending
on fistfight dads
or understanding moms

harley noise was a sin then
good girls didn't look
but their mom's did
and said bad words later
when they had bad dreams
and wishes
while washing dishes
for some bernie
smoking a pipe
and reading the sports

juke box at the timber inn
still plays the old songs
bar maid was a good girl then
says I look like a picture
her mom had in the bible
but my hair was long
and I had a beard
and she has seen that tattoo
of the angel thing before
and did I know I had her eyes

or that she had mine

I just love the flavor of this.  And you know what I think about Harley's.  Thank heavens good girls can like Harley's now

Great read first thing in the morning.

This is simply awesome Dark. I was warned a very long time ago about motorcycles and the men who rode them. I am now married to one of those men & yes ... I love his Harley too!!   Chris

parroting all the comments above, adding your writes are amazingly cleaver.  Brilliant actually...you should do a book...or a journal put together like a book

Very well done!!!!

This write has been on my mind all day,
and now my perception has changed...
It's the eyes, I finally see...

What a cocktail of sensations you write with m'friend. I love it. I've missed reading you.
