Vanessa

A little girl all grown-up now,
a young woman holding a jig sawed puzzle
Laying out the pieces to unlock that rendered sketch,
when the parts all put together, releases the art…

She is, as tough as steel; yet soft as pure gold.
Purely individual as a day is long
Her weakness being love, and kindness,
and gallantly trying to never do wrong...

She is sweet in love, warm and bright,
golden and glistening rays of sun’s twilight.
Easily embarrassed, not quick to find fault.
Her sweet smile pristine with delight...

Curly curls of auburn hair,
now straighten and flat,
and, I am certain,
she is happy for that…

As a child, her brown eyes would sparkle
when I would tell her a story or two.
Intently captive in every word as if they were true.
Silly stories I made-up in my head.
The one about a pot, in the dishwasher, named Fred…

Or the one of flannel Island, where flannel shirts grew,
and buttons made from seashells and were all colored blue.
She watched each word as the left my mouth
She sat unmoving and as quiet as a mouse…

But now she has found another
to tuck her in snug and safe each night.
She is all grown up, and married her shinning Knight.

I will always be near you matters not where you are
no matter the miles no matter how far,
And I will always remember
that smile in your eyes
When I told you silly stories
with a silly surprise…

Wow what a lovely tribute to your daughter, I know she will just love it. I can feel the proudness in your words. I have all that to look forward to my son is only a year old I hope he turns out as good as your daughter sounds.

JL,  this is a precious piece....one that
should be kept in a special place....

You came very close to bringing a tear to
this man's eyes....I have one of those
little girls who likes silly stories as
well....

God bless you both...she should most certainly have this in a golden frame for her to view as it would give her heart warmth.

Lovely!
