Mexican Candy
By: Noah Eaton
7/19/04

(From within the thorax,
of the biznaga cactus,
gibbers the velvet respire,
the sweet tooth's rosewater maxim,
which frustrated anthroplogists,
for eons and eons,
have failed to explain,
this saccharine phenomenon!
Listen!)

.
.
.
("¡Sin su especia,
sin su azúcar,
sin su amor caliente de tamal,
los labios no pueden cantar,
poder querer una banda de mariachi,
usted es los únicos dulces que quiero,
todo quiero es usted,
profundo en la corazón,
hace mi alma canta!")

.
.
.
(Ay ay ay,
there she goes again!)
.
.
.
(El amor es ciego, mi chica,
hang in there...)
.
.
.
(where's my sombrero?)
.
.
.
(aw, there we go!)
.
.
.
My sweet tooth is crying,
like Celia Cruz,
love with love should be repaid,
which spearmint leaves can't do,
I still think you're sweet, mallo cup,
but I'm in the mood for some Cholula,
"¡Deme algunos dulces,
me dan de ese tesoro dulce y picante ahora!"
.
.
.
No bullfighter can tempt me,
with any licorice whip,
unless that whips happens to be dipped,
in tamarind and citric acid!
I'm past all that cherry mash,
that atomic fire ball's just some latrine rumor,
the minute you try the real thing, baby,
YOU MIGHT WANT TO CALL A BABYSITTER!

I'm talking about what makes the fan palms sway,
that makes the summer sun as balmy as Martinique,
I want what makes the Angel Falls sing,
I want...
.
.
.
Mexican candy...
.
.
.
If you're preparing a fruit salad,
there better be xoconostle and mangoes,
For dinner I'll have Lucas Pelucas,
and for dessert it'll be coconut rolls.
I scarf those Bolitochas like Vlasic pickles,
they set me off like José Greco
Hey, I think I'm comin' down with a fever,
can I have a Jamoncillo?

I'm talking about what makes the fan palms sway,
that makes the summer sun as balmy as Martinique,
I want what makes the Angel Falls sing,
I want...
.
.
.
Mexican candy...

("¡Su amor es verdad,
su amor es fiel,
mi amor, el baile conmigo,
trae el fuego al corazón!")
Take it beyond Jalisco!
.
.
.
.
.
My sweet tooth is crying,
like Celia Cruz,
love with love should be repaid,
which spearmint leaves can't do,
I'm past all that cherry mash,
that atomic fire ball can barely break a pore,
give me the lima agria, give me the cocada,
anything to get me peppin' on the dance hall floor...

I'm talking about what makes the fan palms sway,
that makes the summer sun as balmy as Martinique,
I want what makes the Angel Falls sing,
I want...
.
.
.
Mexican candy...
.
.
.
.
.
(You haven't lived a holiday,
TILL YOU HAVE TRIED THE ROMPOPE!)
.
.
.
BUENO, BUENO!!!

Yo te quiero con todo mi alma, mi amigo!

I could use some mexican candy right about ahora!

What a colourful ~ and flavorful! ~ song,
mi angel pequeno!

I was so pleased to see a post from you this evening!

Loveya!

I will never forget my first taste of cactus candy -- what memories you've evoked!  So much enjoyed the "flavor" of this!   hugs......jo
