LongJohn too has posted many great poems....as has Balladeer....This is one of my favorite LongJohn poems...LngJhnAg...

Homeward
by: LhnJhnAg

This walk, at first, a short brisk hike,
Has become an agony of cold and night.
The wind is sharp as it bites clean through,
Driving snow hides my tracks homeward to you.

I pull my coat closer as I duck my head,
My labored breath marking time to my tread
I look up briefly into the storm's blast,
Then bend to this journey I've set as my task.

Blinking back tears coaxed by the wind,
Thoughts of you beckon me onward again,
I feel the cold as its numbing brings pain
My thoughts begin wavering, my energy drained.

Why did I leave the warmth of my hearth?
What could have driven me into this dark?
The answer is simple. You simply asked,
"Honey, will you get me a box of Tampax?"

May be a "Toerag" ending...but the entire poem is waaaaaay too eloquent to be Toerag...

this was extraordinary, and the last line...I didn't know whether to laugh or cry...maybe it's the mood I'm in?

Seriously, thank you Toe for re-posting and sharing, this was an incredible read.

LeeJ...LongJohn is my very favorite poet, well, he and Bally are right at the top of my list....(uhhh, several lists that is)..but, LongJohn is the fella that brought me to this site, and, most people here still haven't forgiven him...

Hey I forgive LJ for bringing ya here!
What would this place be without you? ...
Or LJ and 'Deer?
This sure was one of LJ's best.
Thanks for bringing up for us to read again.

Are you sure that LJ wrote this? It has you written all over it!

I think you just put his name on it to protect the guilty ~ you!

Whether it be you or him, that's my kinda man! A man who'd brave a storm to buy me the feminine necessities of life!

I would give him a kiss to remember! ~ Now, who really wrote this poem???...

Who is the real Sir Laughalot!

Toe darling man, that made me smile, it brought a huge grin to my face. You are a devilish fine writer are you sure you didn’t write this? That last line is very much a Toe tag. Well, whichever of you two fine writers did the deed its great and repost or not I love it.

I knew it was too good to be true-there had to be a catch.  I'm with LeeJ.  I was really falling into a mood of saddeness, and like the winddddddd, you changed the atmosphere into complete laughter.  You are somethin else, Toe!  Much enjoyed!
