I rather not go like this,
Given a smile instead of a kiss;
I’d call you back,
But the courage I lack,
So you walk slowly away.

My spirit is shadow,
Desire longs to follow,
But “rules of engagement”
Disallows the rearrangement,
Perhaps another day.

Traffic static sounds,
Chaos swirls all around
And to darkness I bound,
Sadly, safely away.

Gloom

Wow, I must be really safe, I wear black everyday...

Now that is gloomy!  Sad, but well expressed emotion in this write.
