Wrong Number

Sure, I can call you
with care, but so many times
you have to say “Wrong number....”
That’s when the hollow truth
hits home: for us it is always
the wrong number.
They will never be the same,
your number and mine,
two numbers forever wrong,
like the numbers on your house,
your street, will never be mine.
Even the clock, the calendar betray,
seem to say only numbers
that are wrong for us, when love
would make your time, my time,
into our time for the rest of time.
So it must be for now, maybe forever.
Wrong place, wrong time, and
so sad for us, wrong number.

OMG, this is sooo sad, to love but not be able to share that love, my heart cries . . .

Perhaps a whole new calendar of time
is required.

So frustrating, this poem.  But not uncommon
for many....when true love is the number,
though it might be off by just one.

Such a sad, poignant write... even more so than a perpetually silent phone.

filled with melancholy; this saddens me.
We only know today's date and yesterdays.
Who knows where the numbers land on tomorrow?

chin up, you never know what tomorrow brings

This was very sad, but well written.

Thank you for sharing.

Loved the way you put this together. So many times in life you meet someone or want to make a change and it is the wrong time in the calendar of the universe.

Hi James

Nearly tears in the eyes here.

It was sad but so well told i loved it.

Maybe faith or destiny one day will make those wrong numbers right ones.
