Cleansing

Don’t sweep the rug Mom,
there isn’t any dirt to push away,
not on the floor, anyway

and the countertops already sparkle,
a surgeon would deem them sterile
enough to lay a man across for carving

and speaking of carving,
I’ve got a hunch Thanksgiving
will be different this year,
quieter in the rain,
one setting missed

and even X-Rays
can’t erase delays
or docs who look the other way
when faced with mirrors.

Hmmm, I wonder about the story behind this one.  But as far as writing goes, it was excellent.  Is someone ill?

Sometimes I just have to sit, amazed at how easily you hit heart buttons.  I know of a loss such as this, Corinne, so to tell you I felt this would be me, searching for words, to tell you how close to home this is for so many people.

You make it seem so effortless, pulling on emotions as you do.

But let me know, please...fiction, or fact?

Thank you Magnus. Someone is close to being missing, I guess I'm feeling like it's already happened, though.

Thanks Susan. Yes, someone close to me.

Karilea,

you are a force, a positive energy sending waves across the miles. A gentle hand on the shoulder. Thank you.

My father is dying of cancer. Until this moment, I would have say he has cancer, but now it seems the hope has run out of it. The most frustrating part is that it's from skin cancer. If his family physician had sent him on to a specialist instead of burning off a spot on his hand, he'd still be fine. We need to always be our own advocates and never trust that a doctor, even one you've known all your life, has all the answers or always makes the right decisions.

Thank you, Chris.

Corrine, I know this soooo well.  Just a couple of years ago I watched my Mother suffer such that I shall never be rid of the images of the weeks it took for her passing, and all because of a Cardiologist and his ego.  I curse myself, for with her, if I had known better and made her seek a second opinion, perhaps . . .

My tears fall in sorrow for you, for I know the hole it shall leave.

I had wondered...you spoke from your core...and I had hoped against hope that this was not fact.

Honey, I'm so sorry.  Let me know if there is anything I can do...

I read in one of your replies that your father has cancer. Knowing that has made this poem even that much more poignant and moving for me.

I'm am saddened by this news. I send my love to him, to you, and to the rest of your family.

Loving hugs,
Linda

Thank you Iliana!

Thanks, Ven.

Thank you for your heartfelt concern, Linda.  It's painful not to be able to help. Well, one can help in small ways, but one really cannot HELP, you know?

Oh, and special thank you to my dear friend, Karilea. You are a treasure, lady!
