Beholden to One

Awake and behold
your union
with one sun as the universe,
beating at your center.
Sing ode-
For the same brilliance that
radiates for all creation
pulses in you.

Be the sun.

Arise and breathe
your harmony with one ocean,
as the universe,
flowing from your center.
Sing praise-
For the same ocean that rises
for all creation,
breathes in you.

Be the ocean.

Arrange and build
your castle with panes,
so that you may observe
what dwells within you.
Sing thanks-
Yet be not these walls.
for this is not your home.
Construct neither dam nor gate,
but in all that you create,
build bridges,
so that you may be open to all
which abides in you.

Be the spirit.

For as spirit you are one within all.
