The Answer Surely this mystery shrouded in silk Shall find my tempered spirit wanting of its answers, thirsting of life’s crystal waters in the well of this thawing spring. For not of kindred souls to sing in the cellars of privileged men, harking not unto those higher planes for which they are duly destined, but sitting among those whose footsteps resound so pretentiously above. Where burdened hearts among us are carried upon laden backs of brave men charging headlong into history, spurring righteousness o’er the noble crest of privilege. This laden brow levied does much to quarry such haunting questions of this mystery still shrouded in silk which beckons me now, most clearly, to the banks of this serpentine river banished of its ivory rage. Therein lies my answer sought. This river once awash in turmoil now calmed by conquered rocks simply pushed from its destined path. Copyright, Kevin V. Reese, 2004 |
