When we met eyes
I knew they were my demise
But like salt in an open wound
Your burn was my infatuation

Everytime I kissed you
I heard a brush of wind
Whispering its doubts
Stomach turning within

The next day I would awake
And see your smiling face
Brushing your teeth
Or eating breakfast

"Don't smile at him"
Says the brush of wind
"Look at this side of him,
I know him more than you do"

I cannot live without his touch
I cannot live without his face
The brush of wind grows stronger still
It has pushed me off the cliff

Why did I listen to the brush of wind?
For now, you're gone forever

Allison, nice write -- if that brush of wind was your "voice inside" then in time, you'll know you did the right thing.  Hang in there.  Enjoyed reading your poem.

*Sigh* I only wish it was the voice inside. The voice inside was saying "FINALLY LOVE!"
