state of confusion

Shadows play in the sunniest of corners.
Misshapen gargoyles stretch across sleeping beds.
Holed eyes track our night paces.

Stubby fingers tally failings:
what we've stolen or tossed away.
Scars are carved from our own knife collections;
we wear our belts like pelts.

At sleep’s cliff, we hear wheezy-whispers:
watch eyelid movies where we star,
sliding down an unfurling tongue
made plump and red by our feed.
We are arteries of old pain clinging.

In R.E.M. we fight
with roiling fists
and steady screams.

What I like about your poetry
is when your muse that is sitting in you...
eventually comes
to visit me.

Thanks everyone! Yep, a bit dark and depressing, I know, but some nights are like that!
