the quest

the name is a choice
like feathers who wear white
brushed with tinges of grey

~

you are seated inside
the deepest depths
of icicle lighted caverns
the innermost inside
of a flower’s unfurled petals
like the unborn child
inside the mother’s womb

inside the hidden
lives bliss
while on the outside
we nervously blink
bowing at your lotus-feet

craving for strength
praying for quietude
wishing for calmness
found seated on rocks
watching the most violent
waterfalls land hard
like hammer on an anvil
and then flow down gently
like flower maidens
strolling lithely down
the dusty village road
surrounded in airs
of fresh all-season
scents of life

your perennial disciples
are in the wait
in the periphery
of the river banks
hovering around
while you reside
in the inside
looking outside
and watching

our quest continues
with undiminishing
fervour

~

somewhere
in their own closed quarters
students of philosophy
continue their debate on
what is the meaning
of life
and where can serenity
be found

while the unseen gods
wait patiently like teachers
who know the answers
but give their pupils
a chance to figure it out
for themselves
in an open-book
examination

~

as the wise elders say
the heart of blazing flames
holds the coolest zone
how one enters there is
the path to the conquest

~

Gwad this was good....

you are seated inside
the deepest depths
of icicle lighted caverns
the innermost inside
of a flower’s unfurled petals
like the unborn child
inside the mother’s womb

especially liked and such a blessing to be had

Extremely good write, held me all the way through

Sudhir -- yes....in the "how."  Very much enjoyed this poem and I'll be reading in again from my library.
