The Swallow's Tale

The best laid plans
of riders and writers...
other wise known as
the swallow's tale,
my survival notes from the barn.

Barn swallows swiftly swoop and poop,
repeating the events of the day,
how the unevenly stacked delivery truck did sway,
losing half ton of bales along the way
on the bumpy dusty unforgiving gravel road;
how the supersized stallion busted down another stall door
because he wanted so much more
than that stubborn mare was willing to give.

Sit back in the saddle, put your reins in your lap,
cuz you ain’t going nowhere, not takin a nap,
for the saga has just begun;
this swallow’s tale is still getting spun
faster than the zillions of spiders
that baled out of the fields when the grim reaper went through,
slashing and crushing everything that stood in its way.
Today, survival meant hanging in there until well past sundown,
hoping the NOT-SO-OK corral would survive the onslaught
of stallions and mares in summer heat.

Seeking some soothing romantic thoughts,
my GPS automatically guided me here,
in seek of passionate poetry,
words that will caressingly flow over my body,
soften the hard lines and creases
that invaded my skin, bones and brain today.

I came here tonight to play,
in a verdant pasture filled with delicious bytes.
And I am very, very hungry.

LOL, I did have some fun with this one, the highlight of my night, sad to say, was watching the swallows swoop, poop and play, chasing the barn cats as well as the stable slaves (hehe, me and my daughter)away from the new nest.
*sigh* yes, seasonal nest number two, three rafters down from the open barn door nest.
