Harmony and Descant

Strum silver strings in Summer’s major chords,
hot sand and surf are pungent major chords,
and leave the Spring’s “I love you”s -they’re just words.

Share dances with the daisies in the field,
yes, twirl with yellow  daisies in the field
and keep your heart forever, never yield.

Hum rowdy tunes and raise a glass to drink.
Let’s warble rowdy tunes and have a drink
and tease the guys with boozy flirt and slink.

Keep minor chords for times when darkness sings,
when darkness holds the mike and softly sings
of what we left behind in gentle Spring.

When summer leaves us gasping at the end,
we’ll melt the Winter ice with songs of friends.

Nan, how can you tell me you're fretting your life away when you can write such rollicking verse? This skips along, despite the underlying current of melancholy.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown
