One of our pip members has an unusual name - Snowflake from hell - and the whole concept of his name got my imagination running.

I hope you don't mind Snowflake.

             *     *     *

Black strength, intrusive, destructive,
  burning
Violent, shoves its victims into corners of anger and despair
Seeking to destroy the very spirits within them

Yet
This perfect molecule
Could not be destroyed
Though it could be pressed into fiery steam
It could never be broken

....time spent itself...
The burning stone cracked
  And crumbled
And the strength that once intimidated
  With fire and pain

Broke

And its fire grew cold as ice

And the perfect molecule that had for so long
been pressed and forced

Condensed

in the absence of warmth, by the miracle of nature,
it became
   a snowflake

And a wind found its way to this young spirit
plucking it from its resting place

Through oblivion it swirled and twisted, captive to the wind that found it

So long,
   it had been a prisoner
So long,
forced into shapes it did not want to take

Once again
   it was captive
In frustration it swirled
  tattered and broken

But what it could not see
was where the wind was going

Because in actuality
  the wind knew something
the snowflake did not

Warmer terrain lay ahead
A warmth that would melt the ice of its flesh

And the moisture that it was
  and always meant to be
Would water a parched piece of this earth

And be a valuable part
  of growing something beautiful

Oh my, this is wonderful, so inspiring and touching.  Jeeesh, words just don't fit.  The snowy one cannot help but be warmed by this.

Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you.  Joy is a state of mind.

Copperbell, this is really great.  I had pondered that name, too -- hope he likes it!

I'm certain he will be amazed with joy!

Susan, Iliania, LeeJ: I'm glad you enjoyed what I wrote.  Especially thank you for telling me that you enjoyed it.

It's an unusual name; imagining the process of escaping darkness and the journey of a snowflake was inspiring to me.

and in writing this I think that we all are like rain upon the earth, meant to be a part of bringing life to a part of it
