Wish Bone

I didn’t know
how lonely I was
till I met you

and you just continue to say
things you think I want to hear
yes, it is true
you touch me places
no one else can reach
but I have more courage than most
and want so many things
that you can not give me
starting with the truth
and your fingers tend to
brush against my scars
the evidence of a heart
that has been in battle
something you can not
see as a strength
and my real weakness was
that there was nothing I
would not have done for you
and my tears are another
thing you see as flaws
but as they have fallen and fly
I think you have missed
the best part of me
stripping my skin
to the meat of the matter
where you grab my bones
pulling me wishing…

one day you will wake up
and recognize I am not
one of your chickens

and until then
I refuse
to stand in your line

What's this doing here with no responses?
Everyone gone on vacation?
(don't I wish I were)

This is curious . . .
and chickens?
