Some Oyster

How could you have said the world is your oyster?
You only had half a shell brushed clean of its cloister,
and stuck in a bucket you bought at a five and dime.
You hoisted your fishery colors on the beaches’ shores,
yet, left it tattered and torn because you had no time.

You have no idea of the pearl you lost, or the other side of its shell.
That day of discovery now gone to a place where lonely ghost dwell…

That half oyster’s shell became your heart, without an ocean for a home.
No beach, no golden sunset, no wind-blown sea foam…

It must be in your mind where your life is well known.

How could you have said the world is your oyster?
You only had half a shell brushed clean of its cloister,
and stuck in a bucket you bought at a five and dime.

Now,
there is no time…

This brought back some vivid, early adulthood memories for me, JL...memories that I could have sworn had gone out to sea on the change of tide...

but all things return to show themselves once again, even if bare of pearl...

Very, very good, Sir.  It IS good to see you come home again.

I liked this very much.

Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you.  Joy is a state of mind.

Poignant the way you wrote this, with such understanding.  Much enjoyed!
