I Didn’t Want

There is no real book
where it’s book-marked,

for growing up,

a place where a page is
dog eared
and underscored,
notes placed

                I did this

and notations of

                       My kids won’t

but if you had such a book…

what price would it go for
on E-bay?

Our generation

                Yes, yours

is taking care of their generation…

       I know

for there is no real book,
except                 Time’s.

I didn’t want
to have to teach
this way….

To me this speaks of the generation of grandparents taking on care for their children's children.  Is this a correct impression?

KJ,  we know of this well....I truly do
understand your words....for there was never
a book...and we made mistakes....but we tried,  tried very hard...and sometimes it
never seemed enough....and sometimes we do
take care of their generation...

This is so sad. There are books written by people who have never had children. Sign of the times. Maggie

Somewhere a child has not grown up
Parent of child is crying while fed up
Praying that common sense will just show up
Did our parents fear that we would not live up?

Beautifully expressed thoughts.  KJ

The yawn of a dawn will hasten the light
