She left her body on the chair,
Her mind was gone elsewhere;
Although thoughts gone
The chest heaved on,
Slowly rose and fell,
Still alive I could tell.
No word came out to say
How she came to be this way
A lovely body without a mind
Expression of constant smile
A very dubious find
And she has been there a while
No noise and she didn’t talk,
I suppose her mind is somewhere
Gone for a nice sea side walk
While her body was on the chair.
The nurse came promptly at noon
And fed her with a silver spoon
Then carefully washed her face
And makeup then to replace,
Rearranging her in the chair
With gentle meticulous care.
They take her away at four
To a room of pink lace curtain
To return her to bed once more
Till tomorrow finds her again
Sitting pretty in the lobby chair
With her mind still gone elsewhere.

I have seen this same scenario in the past and it seems so sad. You have captured the moment so very well as you often do.
A pleasure to read your words again Proff.

are you talking about me?

Seriously this was very sad, reminded me of the movie Notebook...and also all those who have been depleted by this disease.

VEry sad, written well, your words surely grabs the readers attention and hold them with many visions and images.

Thank you for sharing.

Thank you, Gentle Spirit,
Your words are as kind as you are lovely,
It pleases me to have you enjoy my words.

Thank you, LeeJ,
Haven’t seen Notebook,
But I do spent a bit of time in a Nursing home,
Glad you enjoyed another of my looks at the world.

Professor,
If a jar is broken in a thousand pieces, which piece shall I grieve for. Enjoyed the read.

Such a sad write...
but a scene I have witnessed often.
Well done sir.
